FIRESTONE GRILL
LLC

THE STORY OF Bob
Most people know that "people own dogs" and that "cats own people." One cat use to own Firestone Grill. That cat's name was Bob. He was a bob-tailed, mostly white, male cat with orange spots who adopted Firestone Grill back in 1989. Bob could be found setting near the back door of the restaurnat anytime of the day. He might open his eyes at you if you called his name but he was always up for a good petting. He love having his picture made. Bob would pose like a super-star anytime you pulled out a camera.
Bob never shared his family history with the folks at Firestone Grill, he simply appeared at the grill in 1989 when it was originally located a few blocks up the road. He never left the good folks of the Grill. In 2005 Pat and David Stines relocated Firestone Grill to its current location. Pat and David was afraid he would wander off or would return to the old place and cross a busy street: but their worries were in vain. Bob settled in under the back patio and made himself right at home.
The Gaston Gazette ran a story about Bob with his picture back in January 2004, thus creating our feline celebrity. New customers would come through the front door asking to see the famous bob-tailed cat they read about in the paper. After Bob's fame and stardom, he was elected to head the Firestone Grill's marketing and P.R. department.
Bob adopted many customers as his own. One friend brought him a "winter cottage" to stay warm in during the winter months. Another brought him special cat food to satisfy his discerning taste of feline delicacies. Several customers chipped in to cover his medical and vet expenses. Very few people would not smile his way, for Bob had a way of purring his way into everbody's hearts.
The sign out front reads, "The Legend Continues." David will tell you that the legend is the great food and service: but out back, Bob would smile and think to himself....."I"am the legend!
Back in the summer of 2009 we lost Bob due to skin cancer on his nose. He was cremated and laid to rest in the flower bed by the front door, Marked by a custom made tombstone so that his spirit will always be with us....watching in through the door.
